Yes — "marriage CV," "marriage resume," and "marriage biodata" all refer to the same document. The "CV" and "resume" naming likely comes from the fact that the document plays a similar role to a job application document: it's a structured summary shared with someone (in this case, a prospective match or their family) so they can quickly get a sense of who you are before meeting. How a marriage CV differs from a job CV
Purpose
A job CV is built to get you an interview — it's optimized to demonstrate skills and achievements relevant to a specific role. A marriage CV is built to help a prospective family or partner decide whether to pursue a conversation — it's optimized to give a fuller picture of who you are as a person, including things a job CV would never include: family background, religion, horoscope details, physical description, and lifestyle.
Sections that don't exist on a job CV
A marriage CV typically includes several sections with no job-CV equivalent at all:
- Personal details — date, time, and place of birth; height; complexion; marital status; religion, caste, and mother tongue
- Family details — parents' names and occupations, siblings, family type (nuclear or joint), and native place

- Lifestyle — diet, smoking/drinking habits, hobbies
- Partner preferences — what you're looking for in a match
Sections that do overlap
Education and career appear on both, but the emphasis differs. A job CV lists roles chronologically with detailed achievements and responsibilities for each position. A marriage CV condenses this to the essentials — highest qualification, current occupation, company, and approximate income — since the reader is trying to understand your overall stability and background, not evaluate you for a specific role.
Photo
A marriage CV almost always includes a clear, recent photograph near the top. Job CVs in most countries deliberately exclude photos to avoid unconscious bias in hiring. The convention is reversed for a marriage CV, where a photo is expected and usually the first thing read.
Length and tone
Job CVs can run to two or more pages for experienced candidates, with detailed bullet points under each role. A marriage CV is almost always kept to one or two pages total, with short, direct fields rather than prose paragraphs — it's meant to be skimmed in a couple of minutes, not read closely like a cover letter.
What to actually include
