Christian Marriage Biodata Format: Simple and Denomination-Aware
A Christian marriage biodata is usually the simplest of the community formats — no horoscope section at all — with one detail that matters more than most other fields: denomination.
What makes a Christian biodata different
The base structure is the same as the general marriage biodata format guide — personal details, family details, education & career, lifestyle, and contact details. Christian theology doesn't practice horoscope or Kundali matching, so the astrology section (Rashi, Nakshatra, Gan, Nadi, Charan, Manglik) that Hindu biodatas conventionally include is left out entirely — a Christian biodata is generally the shortest and least field-heavy of the three community formats covered on this site.
What matters more here than almost anywhere else in the document is denomination.
Denomination — the field that matters most
Catholic, CSI (Church of South India), Syrian/Orthodox, Marthoma, Pentecostal — these aren't interchangeable for most Christian families, so stating it clearly and early is worth doing even though the builder doesn't have a dedicated field for it.
- Religion
- A required free-text field — write your denomination directly, e.g. "Christian (Roman Catholic)" or "Christian (CSI)", rather than just "Christian" alone.
- Native Place
- Optional, but often noted alongside denomination — many Christian communities in India (Syrian Christian, Mangalorean Catholic, Goan Catholic, and others) are closely tied to a specific region, and families often read the two fields together.
Fields to fill in, and what to skip
- Highest Education, Occupation
- Required fields, filled in the same way as any other biodata — career detail is read closely here too.
- Family Type, Family Values
- Optional, and commonly filled in — nuclear/joint and traditional/moderate/liberal give a quick read on household background.
- Contact Person
- Optional — often a parent, consistent with convention across communities.
What to skip
Leave the entire horoscope section blank — Rashi, Nakshatra, Gan, Nadi, Charan, and Manglik status are all optional specifically so communities that don't use them can skip them cleanly. Caste and Gothra are also rarely used on Christian biodatas; both are optional fields, so it's fine to leave them out unless your specific family or community uses them.

Does a Christian biodata need horoscope details?
